Personality,
Dynamic State Management and Workflow Productivity
 |
Tranxition’s founders had an
“a-hah” moment ten years ago. They realized that the
settings on a personal computer reflect the user, and
the PC develops a “personality” as it’s used over time.
They also noticed that when a user receives or purchases
a replacement PC, that personality got left behind. They
calculated the economic effect of losing this PC
Personality on users and organizations, and were
astonished by the impact.
So they developed a series of products around the
concept of PC Personality, and built tools to enable
centralized “configuration centers” to move large
numbers of personalities on behalf of their corporate
customers. They next rolled out a version for field
technicians and corporate migration experts called PT
Pro. In fact, Dow Corning, after an 8,000 seat
migration, informed the company that PT Pro was 99.99
percent reliable.
In time, customers told Tranxition that personality was
not just something that became important at migration
time, it was important all the time. For example, a
large manufacturing company was hit by a virus and a
huge number of machines were devastated. When the backup
tapes were pulled, the restore function didn’t restore
the personality, only outdated files. Tens of millions
of dollars in software and workflow were lost.
So Tranxition carried personality further into a concept
called “Dynamic State Management”. DSM lets those
responsible for systems save continuous mini “snapshots”
of a computer, and then restore a system on demand to
that desired slice of time.
You see, a backup product restores only files. A Dynamic
State Management product captures and restores the
entire PC Personality at a point in time. In
manufacturing applications, an hour of downtime can
represent a nearly unimaginable cost to the company. In
healthcare, machines that are unavailable can reduce
care at critical moments. In business, seconds can mean
that a trade is not executed, forever.
The PC is no longer a device that helps your business;
it is where your business happens. And to make that
business happen, users need to be able to work
productively, even when something goes wrong. That's
where Dynamic State Management pays dividends.
Smart people at various secret laboratories of the US
government can use whatever tools they need to carry out
crucial work for keeping the nation safe. They rely on
Tranxition technology to preserve and protect their
device workflow productivity every day, and were some of
the earliest adopters of Tranxition technology.
Tranxition technology provides crucial safekeeping of
PCs in countries across the globe. In fact, there is
more than a 20% chance that a new business desktop PC
will already have Tranxition’s state management
technology embedded in it. Does yours?
